The Bioenergy group at Centre for Biotechnology, University of Turku, was started in March 2009. The aim of our research is to generate insight and solutions that can enhance utilization of renewable energy production methods. The focus of our research is microbial metabolism in the context of biological energy production. We construct model systems and study fundamental questions of importance for fermentative and phototrophic production of volatile fuels (H2 and hydrocarbons).
