Open call: Impact of Climate Change in Nordic Primary Industries

How can the Nordic countries best prepare for the consequences of climate change on natural resources in our region? The new research programme "Climate Change Impacts, Adaptation and Mitigation in Nordic Primary Industries" contributes to promoting research within this field, with a budget of NOK 18 million over a period of four years. The call for applications are opend in june 2009.
This research network programme is developed by the Nordic Council of Ministers in collaboration with NordForsk, as a part of the Nordic Prime Ministers’ initiative on gloablisation, in which the Nordic countries seek new common solutions to global challenges.
The programme has five themes within the main Nordic production systems; fishery, agriculture, forestry and food. The five thematic areas are:
1. Plant and animal health
2. Conservation, adaptation and utilization of genetic resources
3. Adaptation and mitigation in milk, meat and cereal production systems
4. Impacts and adaptation in fish production systems
5. Sustainable biomass production and carbon storage in terrestrial ecosystems
The final results and conclusions of the programme will be used in the preparation of a climate policy within the area. The proposals must involve collaboration among at least three Nordic countries, or two Nordic countries and one Baltic. The submission deadline of applications to the call is the 3 November 2009.
