This report presents the mid term evaluation of the non nuclear energy research and demonstration projects supported by DG Energy 1 under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7).The approach followed has been: · Programme data an alysis: A review of the available data on applications and approved projects. · Literature review: To illustrate the policy context and to help update / reconstruct the objectives of the programme. · A participant survey : Covering all project partners involved in the target group of FP7 projects plus another survey of recipients of FP6 funding who have not yet applied for FP7 funds. · Consultations: A series of structured interviews with high level stakeholders, DG officers and project coordinators and partners f rom 10 current projects. The report presents our findings and conclusions against each of the main evaluation questions and then presents and describes a series of recommendations structured via the main stage s of the programme life cycle. The evaluation questions, our findings and recommendations are summarised below.
