The search for effective methods of producing alternative fuels constitutes an important aspect of local energy development. Biogas produced from different waste and organic substrates from agriculture is one of the best sources of alternative fuel. Current agricultural environmental and energy policy as well as science strategies promote the development and implementation of innovative renewable energy technologies especially those related to biogas production.
The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) is an international event focusing on central issues regarding the future of the global agri-food industry. It will be held for the fifth time in January 2013, during the International Green Week (IGW) in Berlin.
The Danish Bioenergy team (Roskilde University and Region Zealand) assists the symbiosis center and local companies in redesigning the energy system. The Bioenergy Promotion 2 project provides vital knowledge inputs to the key stakeholders about sustainable bioenergy resources and efficient conversion routes.
The Bioenergy Promotion 2 project partnership forms a “Virtual Bioenergy Promotion Secretariat”, which assists and advises regions developing and implementing bioenergy strategies.
One of the partners in Bioenergy Promotion 2 is Skaraborgsregionen in the southwest of Sweden. Here, biogas production is regarded as the obvious solution to many problems: it can create work opportunities and it makes use of household waste as well as waste products from food industries and farms. And it can replace fossil fuel as vehicle fuel on a big scale.
First Bioenergy Promotion 2 project conference was held in Skövde in Skaraborg, Sweden on 18th of October 2012. Bioenergy Promotion 2 partners had a session at the yearly conference Framtidsforum (Forum for the Future). The conference focuses on issues that concerns rural development. This year the topics were energy, tourism, food and CAP.
The seminar “How to prepare investment process in ekoenergetics? - The key actions to convince local stakeholders and public” is devoted to the problem of investment process preparing in ekoenergetics.

Regional bioenergy stakeholders with an emphasis on woody biomass met for the region of Rotenburg at the kick-off meeting of BIOENERGY PROMOTION 2 in April 2012.
