First Bioenergy Promotion 2 project conference was held in Skövde in Skaraborg, Sweden on 18th of October 2012. Bioenergy Promotion 2 partners had a session at the yearly conference Framtidsforum (Forum for the Future). The conference focuses on issues that concerns rural development. This year the topics were energy, tourism, food and CAP.
Cooperation with the Baltic 21, CBSS Expert Group on Sustainable Development is the focus of task 4.2 of Bioenergy Promotion II. This cooperation is an important mechanism to ensure dissemination of bioenergy policies and to create understanding of the role bioenergy is playing within the energy sector, agriculture, rural development, business development and other fields of action.
The European Commission is inviting comments on the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR). The EUSBSR was launched in 2009. It aims to make the Baltic Sea Region cleaner, more connected and more prosperous. The Strategy is a pilot initiative where the Macro-regional concept is tried and tested in a specific geographic area. The EUSBSR was followed by the introduction of a Strategy for the Danube Region.
An energy independent german village, biodiesel production from household waste in Norway and Utilization of biogas from farm waste in Latvia are three projects choosen as the best regional best practice models by the Bioenergy Promotion project.
