The conference will be held in Kaunas, Lithuania on 25th and 26th of November 2010. The conference is part of the Bioenergy Promotion project, which is co-financed by the European Union and the Government of Norway up to 2012.

The event draws upon a project conference held in Helsinki in 2009, which had a particular focus on the Renewable Energy Directive, and the National Renewable Energy Action Plans (NREAPs). This year we have broadened the scope to also cover sub-regional and business perspectives and solutions.

The objective of the conference is
-    a policy dialogue on the NREAPs and their implementation including sustainability criteria
-    to discuss (sub-)regional showcases and pilot projects
-    to present business perspectives, models and solutions..
 
These objectives are reflected in the following conference sessions:
• Sustainable bioenergy - EU policy framework and results from the Bioenergy Promotion project
• Implementation of National Renewable Energy Action Plans in Baltic Sea Region countries
• Good practice in cooperation between (sub)regions
• Sustainable bioenergy from a business perspective

Target group
Participation is intended for decision-makers from ministries, public authorities and agencies at national and (sub-)regional levels, representatives from business and industry, research and other bioenergy stakeholders.

The language of the conference is English and participation is free of charge.
